A former Kaizer Chiefs has been let go by MLS side St. Louis City after a difficult start to the new season.

Carnell had been appointed as head coach of St. Louis before their inaugural year in the MLS last season.

In the club’s first season, Carnell was able to to lead the side to some landmarks. The former defender won the Western Conference and his side was able to qualify for continental football. His efforts did not go unrecognised as he was nominated for the coach of the season award. This after St. Louis City broke the record for being the MLS expansion side with the most victories in a debut season.
