The Office of the Public Protector earlier this year said beyond March, it would no longer be paying for her lawyers for the Section 194 inquiry into her fitness to hold office.Mkhwebane had accused the Speaker of the National Assembly and the chair of the inquiry of violating a ConCourt order handed down last year that the state was obligated to provide Mkhwebane with legal funding for the hearing.
"The Constitutional Court, after careful consideration, found no grounds for exclusive jurisdiction and direct access. Consequently, the court dismissed the application without requiring Advocate Mkhwebane to cover any costs," says Parliament's spokesperson Moloto Mothapo.
