After former Joburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse delivered the State of the City Address last year, the city has had three mayors succeed her all in one financial year.

JOHANNESBURG - The maiden State of the City Address by Joburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda on Tuesday comes without nitpicking.

It has been a month since Kabelo Gwamanda was elected mayor - serving as the third councillor to hold the top office this year.Speaking at a pre-Soca briefing on Monday, Joburg Council Speaker Colleen Makhubele admitted that there has not been proper oversight on the work done by the previous administration.

This led to some of the measures she pledged to undertake in 2022 not receiving the required oversight from the legislative body of the council.
