Nearly 25 years after its inception, the Eastern Cape 's Coega Special Economic Zone has seen its contribution to the provincial gross domestic product in the Eastern Cape finally breach 1% for the first time.
Just 0.05% of the available land has been used so far, and the Coega Development Corporation believes its 80-year SEZ plan means that development can still continue well into the retirement years of many South Africans., companies that operate within the SEZ saw their income increase to R18.9 billion last year. Their income has been growing by an annual rate of around 15% since 2021. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
