When family man Nick Brewer is abducted in a crime with a sinister online twist, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why.Ah, clickbait – a trick as old as the internet used to catch any sucker looking for something juicy to feast on. It's a clever title to use for a show, in my opinion, and well, it turns out the new thriller on Netflix is precisely what its title promises –I love a good crime thriller.
It all starts when family man, Nick Brewer , is kidnapped. Shortly after his disappearance, a video emerges in which he is seen with one hand tied up, the other holding two signs that read:"I abuse women" and"At 5 million views, I die." This comes as a shock to Nick's sister Pia and his wife, teacher Sophie , who defend his reputation until the plot thickens. Each episode assumes a different central perspective – first Pia, then Detective Rohan Amiri .
The premise of this show is excellent, especially in an age of technology. Threatening to kill a man when the video reaches 5 million views, I mean, who am I to pretend that I wouldn't click to watch even though it could be the view that gets someone killed. Wow, that's bleak. Nevertheless, after the second episode, the race against time element is totally eliminated. The whodunit element becomes the sole plotline that keeps the viewer glued for six more episodes.
