City of Johannesburg, City Power to appeal order to settle R1.073bn Eskom debt

The City of Johannesburg and City Power believe critical aspects of their evidence presented to the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg were not fully considered before they were ordered to pay City Power 's R1.073 billion debt to Eskom.

On Thursday, Acting Judge Ngwako Maenetje said there was no dispute that the debt was due and payable, ordering the City to settle their bill. City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena on Friday said while they accept and respect the court’s decision, they would appeal it.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
