“This two-week shutdown will allow for maintenance to be conducted on various process units of the Steenbras Water Treatment Plant as per its maintenance schedule.
“This work forms part of the City’s pro-active maintenance programme for its bulk water infrastructure, which will ensure continued water supply to these areas,” the City said.The City further indicated that careful consideration has now been given to the planning of the work to ensure minimal disruption to consumers in the area.
“Water from the Blackheath, Faure and Helderberg Water Treatment Plants will substitute the water supplied by the Steenbras Water Treatment Plant during the maintenance period,” the City adds. Meanwhile, no significant water supply disruptions are anticipated to result from this work, however, residents in the higher-lying areas along the mountainside in Gordon’s Bay are advised to use water sparingly over this period to reduce the strain on the water supply system while the scheduled maintenance work is underway.
