JOHANNESBURG - Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital management says that load shedding is having a negative impact on its back up energy supply. But the hospital said rolling blackouts are placing a strain on equipment.
Control works inspector for the electrical section at the hospital, François Fourie, said the hospital’s generators can't run for indefinite amounts of time of load shedding.“You will definitely be seeing an increase in failures and an increase wear-and-tear in generators if this situation does continue.”“The hospital costs for the uses of diesel and there is a limit to that. If load shedding does extend, it will definitely have a huge effect on budgeting.
Healthwise, the impact of loadshedding is even worse as cash strapped people now have to feed on wasted unhealthy food because of lack of refrigeration in their homes. This may lead to vicious circle of diseases in some communities.
Ku nyelwa abantu abamnyama kphela. I’m so tired of this classist bullshit
So it’s only in Cape Town affluent areas where hospital areas don’t experience power cuts? 👀
At least when people start dying they can tell their families how sorry Eskom is. I'm sure Cyril will be shocked and angry about it.
