Kaizer Chiefs emphatically responded to their critics as they registered their biggest win under Gavin Hunt with a 3-0 thrashing of Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivandila on Tuesday.

Amakhosi have found a new lease on life in the past seven days with the players going from zeros to heroes in the eyes of their faithful.

Prodigious midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo opened the scoring with a sublime strike in the 19th minute, and in the second half Lebogang Manyama scored in the 66th minute with Happy Mashiane scoring the third in the 90th. It was the second game in a row that academy products Ngcobo and Mashiane inspired the team to victory after also scoring in the 2-1 win over Cape Town City.

Three wins on the trot have boosted the team morale and has them steadily climbing up the PSL league table. Chiefs are now in seventh place with 16 points from 12 games, as last season’s runners-up reached its highest position in the league this season. It seems like the players have finally woken up after giving Hunt the undesirable record of the worst 10-game league start in recent history. In the other game of the afternoon, Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw with Bloemfontein Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
