In a bustling city anticipating the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon this weekend, the residents and commuters are bracing for significant road closures that will reverberate through the CBD, Atlantic Seaboard, and southern suburbs. While the marathon is a celebration of athleticism and determination, it will also leave its mark on the city’s public transportation system.

This weekend, on the 14th and 15th of October 2023, Cape Town will come alive with the energy of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. However, as the city gears up for this exciting event, it’s essential to be aware of the road closures and their impact on the MyCiTi public transport service.begins. On 14 October 2023, Route 104 will be canceled from the start of the service until 10:00. This cancellation aims to accommodate the marathon’s early-morning runners.

The following day, Sunday, 15 October 2023, brings even more significant changes. Route 113 is canceled for the entire day. Routes 101, 111, 102, 103, 105, 106, 107, and 261 will remain canceled from the start of service until 13:00.For those relying on the MyCiTi service, some key stations and stops will be impacted. On both Saturday and Sunday, Thibault Square, Stadium, Granger Bay, and Waterfront stations on Route T01 will be skipped in both directions from the start of service until 08:00.

On Sunday, Route 104 will be canceled from the start of service until 08:00. From 08:00 to 14:30, Route 104 will turn short at Waterfront station. During this time, several stops and stations will be skipped in both directions, including Breakwater, Somerset Hospital, Granger, Mouille Point, Surrey, Lighthouse, Three Anchor Bay, Rocklands, Promenade, London, Graaf’s Pool, Boat Bay, Sea Point Pool, Cassel, and Queens Beach.
