'They are a long, long way ahead of the rest.” 😳 Spain head coach Luis Enrique has named Argentina and Brazil as his favourites for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year. Read more ➡️

The biggest showpiece in football gets underway in November, with France looking to defend their title they won in 2018.

While the French can be seen as favourites after winning the UEFA Nations League recently, Enrique feels two South American giants are his front-runners. “I’m going to take advantage of the question… Argentina," the La Roja coach said, as per Football Espana. “A long way ahead of everyone else. And then Brazil. More than anything because otherwise a Brazilian journalist will come and say ‘you think Argentina are better than Brazil?’, because no matter what you say, it will be distorted.Enrique also addressed his side's slow start to the Nations League campaign as they are winless after three games.

"If some expect us to win all of the games and do so by thrashing our opponents, they know nothing of modern football," Enrique said."Look at France, the [2018] World Cup Champions and [2021] Nations League winners," he added.
