Johannesburg officials inspect the M1 bridge to assess if it has cooled down enough to inspect the inside of the cavity for structural damage.
Questioning the safety of the M1 South in Newtown, Johannesburg's main thoroughfare between the southern and northern suburbs, Transport MMC Kenny Kunene said:"I am afraid to drive there. I can't lie." In an interview with News24, Kunene spoke about the safety of that section of the highway, which thousands of motorists use every day.
