Billions spent irregularly, says Auditor-General eNCA

Auditor-general Kimi Makwetu says R62-billion is the figure for irregular expenditure for 2019.

CAPE TOWN - Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu has expressed concern about the 2018/2019 national and provincial government audit.Makwetu says that KwaZulu-Natal has the highest amount in irregular expenditure amounting to R2.4-billion.The Auditor-General says what's even more worrying is the level of irregular expenditure at SOEs.

Some of the issues include serious weaknesses in the financial management of national and provincial government that have not been addressed over the past five years.
