On Wednesday 11 October, members of Benoni Flying Squad arrested three suspects and recovered two firearms in separate incidents.
At around 05:00, an off-duty police received information about suspects who had jumped a wall at a complex in Odendaal Street, Boksburg North. Those suspects then jumped back over the wall into the street and attempted to run away but were cornered by the security. The sergeant then put on his uniform and started work earlier by going to the crime scene. Upon his arrival, he found the two suspects subdued by the security in the street.
After reporting on duty, the sergeant responded to a complaint following information received through Crime Intelligence from a security company about a man carrying a firearm seen walking near the veld along Modderbee Road. Members rushed to the scene where a person matching the description was arrested after being found in possession of a Star 9mm short pistol and four live rounds of ammunition.
