Barcelona president Joan Laporta has sent a warning to the rest of Europe after landing their first big-money signing of the transfer window. SLInt 🧐 MORE:

The Catalans recently completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City in a deal reportedly worth £45 million despite their well-documented financial troubles.

Reports in Spain claim the Blaugrana got a huge bank loan to get the deal over the line, but Torres can only be registered once the club starts off-loading players. Laporta, meanwhile, has warned competitors that the Catalan outfit is"re-emerging" as they look to get back among Europe's elite clubs after a shaky few seasons.“Everyone should be ready because we have returned. We are an example, and the example is that Ferran is here. We are re-emerging.

"We work calmly. We are on the way to make additions in winter, and we are also working in the medium term.”
