'I didn’t buy the property to cause trouble – I bought it because I want to keep it.'

In parliament, Pierre Gerber was a gatekeeper for public accounts, tasked with keeping trespassers out of the national fiscus.

But a gate is exactly what Gerber does not have to enter his Stellenbosch plot. He has been locked out of his 600m² property next to a prominent wine estate.
