Australia plans to drop the head of the British royal family from its five-dollar banknote in favour of a design that honours the culture of the country’s Indigenous people.

The new note will replace the portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II with a tribute to the first Australians, rather than an image of King Charles III, the Reserve Bank said on Thursday. The decision followed a consultation with the federal government.

The government had already hinted last September, shortly after the queen’s death, that it wouldn’t use her son’s image on the new banknote. The note will take a number of years to be designed and printed, and will be in consultation with First Nations people.

Should have been done decades ago.

this pampered royal thing is only 3 years older than I am but he looks 33 years older. I must remember to send him a box of Tampax for his royal crowning = he surely would appreciate that

Jisses now only😳

That should fix their economy.

Big deal.

Which country would want such a horror in your pocket.

Great idea. I hope it’s the beginning of Australia leaving the Commonwealth and cutting all ties with the UK.
