Founded in 1899, the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria bears the seal of an excellent German school abroad.

The park-like premises with spaciously designed school buildings are the perfect setting for learners from Crèche leading up to the National Senior Certificate and, for the German university qualification, the German International “Abitur”.

The DSP follows German and South African curricula. German and English are taught as mother tongue and as a foreign language. Non-German speaking learners have entry opportunities in the Kindergarten, Pre-School as well as Grade 1 and Grade 5. Modern teaching methods are used throughout. Subject teachers lay the foundation for languages, natural sciences and social sciences and further develop these. Sport and musical artistic subjects contribute significantly to developing well-rounded individuals. The extensive extra-curricular activities support the maturation of young people and give them room to develop.

At this School of Encounter, young people of different socioeconomic backgrounds and of all population groups meet with children from Germany, Europe and other parts of the world. Our learners are open-minded and inquisitive young people who are equipped explore the world. Two 12th grade learners, with completely different roots, have become close friends at this school and share their experiences. I have been attending the DSP since preschool and when I came here I could not speak any German.
