Tensions in the trucking industry have reached boiling point after a 45-year-old truck driver was shot and killed on Monday night, the latest in a string of attacks that has seen at least 30 trucks targeted last week.

It is sad reading about truck drivers who passed on as a result of their injuries. It is sad to read about trucks being burned and looted. What are we achieving doing this damage? It's not correct people? We cannot burn expensive trucks with their loads and a driver dies.

Integration with savages = South Africas downfall. Prove me wrong

Burn schools, libraries, hospitals, busses, trains, trucks. Are Shebeens fireproof 👀

The problem with government is its reactive stance to any burning issues, they are never proactive. Only when people have exhausted all means of peacefully addressing an issue and resort to violence, do they then decide to intervene. There is no government in this country.

It's really so heartening and so bad that being South African can't even get driver's job because of criminal record as old as of 27yrs back 'coz we're vetted but a foreign driver that is a different story and now we here because of poor governance.

These attackers are primitive. Please do not compare them animals. Animals' intellect are on a higher plain as these attackers.

Trucks problems are created by the owners themselves who wants the cheapest labourer to work for them not following the law of labour

We have hardly any rail infrastructure and attacking the trucking industry just plain stupid. It's the bloodline for supplies. The ANC has a lot to answer for. All of this leads to rising prices, as risks so much bigger.

Ending a stranger’s life in this manner is the most cruel thing I can imagine. Truck drivers deserve protection. Unfortunately SA youths are Unemployed and hungry and live in perpetual depression. Trucks pass through their villages towards towns to deliver food they can’t afford.

Bottom line is... violence is out of control and leaders dont take responsibility!!! This should ve been sorted longggg ago

I think truck owners should ground their fleet until the government intervenes. The industry under siege and the glaring absence of law enforcement is for all to be seen. This issue runs far deeper than just wanting no foreign drivers to be employed in South Africa.

Stop striking for nonsense and perhaps sa drivers will be hired!!!
