Another blast reported in SriLankaBlasts as death toll continues to climb

The toll in a string of blasts Sunday at churches and hotels in Sri Lanka has risen to at least 156, including 35 foreigners, a police official told AFP.

A hospital source said Americans, British and Dutch citizens were among those killed in the six blasts, which also injured hundreds of people. There were also reports of casualties in a blast at a church north of the capital, and the toll was expected to rise. Easter Sunday bomb blasts in churches & hotels, killing many innocent people seems to be a well coordinated attempt to create murder,mayhem & anarchy.All those who cherish democracy,freedom & economic prosperity must unite now with nerves of steel to defeat this heinous attempt.Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe condemned the blasts as “cowardly”, and said the government was working to “contain the situation.

Dozens of people injured in the St Anthony’s blast flooded into the Colombo National Hospital by mid-morning, an official told AFP.
