A number of ANC veterans have come out in defence of National Executive Committee member Derek Hanekom and called on the ruling party to follow suit.
The letter, delivered on Saturday, states that the views expressed therein were widely canvassed among the party’s membership and “represent the views of many loyal members of the ANC who are determined to ensure that the values of our beloved organisation are restored, and the ANC renewed”.
“It is also worth noting that, prior to the resignation of President Zuma in February 2018, the ANC Chief Whip is quoted as having said that the governing party would hold talks with the EFF in order to amend and support the 2018 motion of no confidence.
“Tried and tested comrades of our movement, including Comrades Derek, Pravin, Siphiwe and others have been singled out and attacked. We believe that this is because of their commitment to the historical values and principles of the ANC and their unrelenting resistance to corruption and state capture. There can be no other logical reason.

I dont see any problem with Hanekom. Zuma was not listening to any of those in the NEC. Therefore Hanekom did the right thing to plot with outsiders.
Magashule must clean his own house before he points a finger. Deflecting attention from his own misdoings has become an art to him.

There is a big difference: Ace is denying the allegations. Besides, the person that made the allegations retracted them. While, Hanekom had admitted that he colluded with the EFF. The ANC can decide 2 do nothing against Hanekom, but they would have created a terrible precedence
