The return of Gwede Mantshe as ANC national chairperson has left several ANC members elated and hopeful that the 'straight-talking' top seven member will bring order and structure to the organisation

I am happy because I want renewal and unity so that Ramaphosa can get rid of corruption in the country. I am so proud of the top seven as most of the people I had predicted would be in it indeed are there. Like Fikile [Mbalula], I feel he will be very strong in that position.

Gwen Ramokgopa, Maropene Ramokgopa and Nomvula Mokonyane were elected to the positions of treasurer-general, second deputy secretary-general and first deputy-secretary general, respectively. However, ANC member Thulisile Godo from Mpumalanga questioned what the election of these three women really meant for the party:"Yes, we see them but I do not understand it at all," she told City Press.
