Kenny Morolong, spokesperson for the interim ANC provincial committee, said they would not celebrate until the IEC was done with consolidating the results, and they knew how many council seats they had won. While the mood in Ipelegeng township was still subdued, a number of people were seen clad in ANC colours while others waited in groups at different spots for the final results. Several ANC branded bakkies fitted with loud speakers had already started playing music in some areas.Meanwhile, the DA lost Ward 9 – which it won in 2016 – to the Freedom Front Plus.

The F4SD was also disappointed with the election outcome. However, the party will not have to pay its ward candidates R100 000 it promised if they won the elections. The IEC has confirmed that about 13 300 voters cast their votes in Mamusa on Wednesday. Picture: Tebogo Letsie/City Press
