Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller says his the defending champions are not favourites for the CAF Champions League final.
The Egyptian giants are aiming for a record-extending 12th Champions League as they take on Esperance in the first leg on Saturday evening. The two sides are meeting for the first time since last season's semi-final, where Al Ahly ran out 4-0 winners on aggregate.Despite the previous results, the Al Ahly coach says nothing separates the two sides heading into the first leg.
"Esperance are a big team, but last year's game was a different story," Koller said at a press conference, as per Ahram Online. "This time we'll be facing a much-evolved side, and playing in a Champions League final adds another layer of complexity, especially with the return of fans."Football is not about history or experience; it is more about what happens on the pitch. The level between Ahly and Esperance is close, so I don't see us as the favourites. We both have an equal chance."
