If Africa wants to be a manufacturing giant, it needs to do away with borders.

This was the view of Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday afternoon while on a state visit to SA.

“It has become a global conglomerate. They did not come together because they love each other — we all know how much they hate each other — but they came together to survive. Africa must come together for us to survive.”He said he was happy to hear that SAA and Kenya Airways have agreed on a strategic partnership framework towards the creation of a pan-African airline that will draw on the capabilities and advantages of the two airlines. “I am hoping to be one of your first customers,” he said.

“SA could be a strategic partner in implementing President Kenyatta’s Big Four Agenda, which has a specific focus on manufacturing, food security, universal healthcare and affordable housing. For this to happen, our trade relationship needs to involve greater value-addition, with more focus on manufactured and agricultural goods.”

Pan Africanism must be in SA only I guess

Why can't these idiots discuss the borders issues at the AU meetings. Dedicate a special meeting where the Agenda is 'Borders '. They always talks about borders when visiting SA, we can't be bullied into opening borders when theirs are closed.

When they about to leave office they always come up with controversies

African leaders must stop stealing from their fiscus only then will they eradicate poverty & hunger. & grow their économies

Silly excuses

The shallow minded ones will always condone this statement based on hollow illusions.

I laugh a lot when some of these African politicians call for abolition of borders. A border will always be important for applying economic concepts and national security. Would Uhuru Kenyatta get Kenya to share borders with Somalia?

Never

So true.. Clever blacks will fail to understand

Mzee is enjoying us. Is East Africa a giant?. The man must just continue making yogurt or I'll call Baba to deal with him.

Go speak like that in your own Country

Southern Africa drags way behind Eastern Africa on the implementation of softer borders

In which part part of the world is this working out or we’re experimenting as always

Can they forget about borders & start manufacturing..build roads railway 🛤 network reliable transportation of goods & start trading with each other.. this borders thing is an old story & now used as an excuse..not all African countries will ever agree on that never

This was the view of Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday afternoon while on a state visit to SA. Africa's problem is that they cannot work together. From my ancestors to modern day... We are addicted to tribalism and corruption. It's dope but in a bad way... Doing away with borders, without any rules in place, will result in tears. A relationship without any rules will always result in pain. Rising crime, drug and human trafficking, illegal manufacturing of cigarettes and foodstuffs - a borderless country with a weak state is chaos. So you can come and steal from the entire continent? 👀 🤔
