Judge Segopotje Mphahlele had to take a break to give Maditla a chance to compose herself.
Maditla said she was remorseful on what she did and she was ready for a minimum sentence for her crimes.“I went to the father of my two children who had promised to buy clothes for children and also buy us food. When I got there, I found out that he was with another woman and we argued then he hit me. While we argued, his mother asked us to leave her home and I asked why chase me away instead of the other woman.
“I left and while I was crying at the taxi rank, I saw people selling rat poison and I bought it. When I got home, I prepared food and I put in the poison; the children ate and I also ate it myself,” said Maditla. Maditla said after feeding the children with poison, she sat inside the house and one of her children, Blessing, complained of severe headache and she went to the store to buy painkillers. She said she found the children “sleeping” when she returned.
It is a shocking happening. Four innocent children cruelly murdered by the one who should have protected and nurtured them. Poisoning is of the most painful ways of killing . And she planned it well. It is too late for tears now.... She deserves the harshest punishment.
I can be suprise if they give her minimum because she is woman they will be claiming she was under lot of stress but if it was man that kills his kids yooo yooo they would HV giv him 14 life sentences long ago
