The Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga, has sent condolences to the families of the 45 people who were killed in an accident on the R518 near Mamatlakala heading to Moria in Limpopo.
A bus transporting congregants from Botswana fell off a bridge, crashed and caught fire on Thursday morning, 28 March.BREAKING: 45 people die in a bus crash. One 8 year old survived. Bus was traveling from Botswana to Moria. Bus caught fire when it crashed and it’s believed most people perished to death.“We continue to urge responsible driving at all times with heightened alertness as more people are on our roads this Easter weekend,” Chikunga said.
“The SAPS continues to provide updates as the rescue and recovery efforts unfold. It is alleged that the driver lost control, colliding with barriers on the bridge, causing the bus to go over the bridge and hit the ground, where it caught fire. “The Minister assures the public that the precise cause of the crash is under thorough investigation,” Department of Transport spokesperson Collen Msibi said.
Manwhile, the African National Congress has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will visit the Zion Christian Church in Moria, Limpopo on Easter Sunday, 31 March.My Brother’s Keeper: Thursday’s episode, 28 March 2024
