44mm in 12 hours : Heavy rain pummels KZN amid SAWS level 6 warning of potential flooding

More than 44mm of rain fell in Durban in just 12 hours.The SA Weather Service warned that the rain could lead to localised flooding.

eThekwini said the heavy rainfall had affected the southern region of the City and caused significant waterlogging on several roads. News24 previously reported that the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs warned residents to expect heavy rainfall that could potentially lead to flooding in coastal and midland districts on Monday.All disaster management centres have been activated to monitor the weather and risk, and to respond to any unforeseen events, the department said.
