Twenty-six people have tested positive for Covid-19 at Mediclinic Cape Town, management confirmed.

“Nearly 300 potential contacts have been tested, with the majority of these returning negative results,” Dr Stefan Smuts, the chief clinical officer of Mediclinic Southern Africa said in a statement.He said the group is currently in isolation at home until they recover.

The national department of health also has firm processes in place governing contact tracing of those exposed to a positive individual, Smuts said. The medical group also strictly adheres to infection prevention and control protocols, as laid out by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases and World Health Organisation .

I honestly sympathise with the people of the WCape. Lack of leadership in the fight against COVID-19 in that province is our biggest challenge as a country than the virus itself.
