Enner Valencia, who nabbed a double on the opening day started for Ecuador with Davy Klaaasen and Steven Bergwijn featured up top alongside Coady Gakpo for the Oranje.
Ecuador began to bomb forward through ventures from the left which resulted in balls delivered balls in behind the defence of the three-time World Cup finalists. Ecuador looked to have gone level on the stroke of halftime off a low rasping drive by Pervis Estupinan from a corner, but it was disallowed for offside after a review by the Video Assistant Referee.
The South Americans eventually levelled three minutes in the second half when Valencia charged on a teasing ball from a spill by Noppert and turned home following an initial shot by Estupinan.
