2019 ELECTIONS: DA to challenge Independent Electoral Commission order to apologise to De Lille By Jonah Dylan

The Independent Electoral Commission ruled on Tuesday that the Democratic Alliance must apologise to former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille after finding that the DA violated the electoral code of conduct and spread false information about De Lille — but the DA said it would not abide by the ruling.

The IEC gave the DA three days to issue a public apology and also ruled that the DA had to “cease and desist” from continuing to say that De Lille had been fired.on Tuesday that the party will not issue an apology within the three-day deadline, and will not apologise unless ordered by a court to do so.What they needed to do — and this is where they’ve overreached themselves by prescribing remedies— they need to take their remedies as recommendations to the electoral court.

OPINIONISTA: What really went wrong in the City of Cape TownI am a social democrat who believes that a capitalist system skewed towards social justice is the only sustainable solution to fixing the ravages of our apartheid past. I had to return to something I can believe in. Since establishing GOOD, I have been called by people from all over the country who are disillusioned with the old parties and seeking a new home. Not convinced ... too much finger pointing and you are totally unblemished ... I don't think anyone is as pure as you make yourself out to be ... no I think power, influence and money may be motivating factors behind the Good Party It was putting her in charge as a Nayor that went wrong! PatriciaDeLille Good is no Good Ouma pat only wants revenge against the DA coz she failed in doing her job. Those who think she has anyone's interest at heart are just as ignorant as ouma pat. When will the young people get a chance if this old people dont want to just step down ffs
