Political analyst, Sandile Swana, says the 2019 South African National and Provincial elections are extremely competitive. sabcnews IEC Elections

Political analyst, Sandile Swana, says the 2019 South African National and Provincial elections are extremely competitive. Swana says compared to the last election, it is interesting to see other parties filling up stadiums. He says only the ANC did that previously.Political parties have been busy with a schedule of manifestos, campaigning and rallies around the country, culminating over the weekend with the DA, which held their “We Can Win” rally in Soweto on Saturday.

On Sunday, ANC supporters attended the Siyanqoba rally at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, while the EFF gathered at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto for their Tshela Thupa Rally.Swana says: “The political landscape is changing and the ANC can see that the Gauteng province is up in the air judging by the rallies.”

He says from 1994, “the ANC has fallen in Gauteng and nationally and the question is where are those voters? “What will be interesting to see is who will get the ANC votes. Which party will benefit from the ANC’s loss of voters.”

2019 Elections - Analysis: South Africa’s foreign affairs goes missing in action in the 2019 electionBoth candidates and parties have given short shrift to explaining their positions on South Africa’s crucial foreign and international economic policies, in the about-to-wrap-up national election. But these issues are too important to be left to a couple of lines in the parties’ respective manifestos. At the same time, however, the media may have let them all off far too lightly to address the needs of voters. There is a better way. parkhurst1 How about your own poor foreign corresponding with regards to Palestine? 'A weekend flare-up of violence following several rocket attacks from Gaza...'? 2019 Elections - ANALYSIS: Curiouser and Curiouser – the strange case of the 2019 electionsThis has, by any standards, been a rather strange election campaign by the major parties. The ANC is riven with factionalism, the DA spends its time attacking other parties rather than putting its own message across, and the EFF is beginning to emerge as a force bigger than just one man, Julius Malema.

2019 ELECTIONS: In Eastern Cape, Ramaphosa vows to make South Africa great againIn the Eastern Cape at the weekend it was mostly more of the same with President Cyril Ramaphosa on the campaign trail. But he did veer off script to accidentally quote an American president, and his dad jokes evaporated in the province’s hut-dotted rolling green hills. carienduplessis How do we make our version of MAGA caps and t-shirts? MSAGA doesn't really work. This is the first strongest argument for renaming our country Azania. Make Azania Great Again! That has a nice ring to it.

OP-ED: Writing the 2019 Elections: South Africa has a clear choice between progress and chaosThe question of trust is key. It has to do with the integrity of the next president, coupled with capabilities, credibility, perception, and various forms of capital to effectively lead South Africa out of the incredible omnishambles of the past 10-12 years. To understand this, you would need much more than that which can be quantified or explained rationally. It requires a leap of faith, with a firm grip on problems that beset the country, the region, the global political economy — and a deep well of power to beat the resistance to progressive change. The rigging has started. Ballot boxes found near Tzaneen. IEC not to be trusted !! 👹 Think you made a decision and then built your case around it.Of the three only one has proved his integrity. Only one has proved he can govern. Only one has been shown not to be a liar. Only one has shown himself not to be racist. But it’s too difficult for you to credit Maimane This article is based on the false premise that we should vote for personalities rather than parties. Without Ramaphosa and Malema, the ANC and EFF are nothing. Without Maimane, the DA could still govern SA.
