More arrests were effected as part of Operation Vala Umgodi that aims to curb illegal mining activities in the province.

Brenden McDonald and Fhunin Li appeared in the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on Friday, after they were arrested for the alleged Contravention of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 in Belfast on Tuesday.

The team comprised of members of the SAPS attached to Mpumalanga's Operation Vala Umgodi, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy , Department of Agriculture Rural Development Land and Environmental Affairs as well as the Department of Home Affairs.
