Throughout high school, Andraya Yearwood ran track and field as a sprinter and made headlines for speaking out against violence against transgender people in sports and everywhere else. How crucial education is. I remember, even two years ago, being so naive to everything happening around me and specifically in the communities with which I identify. I was not all that aware of the injustices that have, and continue to, plague the minority communities that exist within our society.
I feel that when we as a society get too wrapped up in what is going on in the media or the world around us, it can cause us to neglect what we are going through. We can, at times, forget to care for ourselves or just carve out some time for our own well-being.
