“Become an Internet sensation.” Some parents are sending their kids to summer camp to learn YouTube skills

What’s up guys, it’s Julie here. Welcome back to another column. Wait, why am I suddenly talking like a YouTuber? Because today I’m going to tell you about YouTube summer camps for kids.

No, not camps where kids watch YouTube all day. These are day camps where kids as young as 5 learn how to shoot videos, edit sound and create a personal brand to get them on their way to YouTube stardom.

And I thought you couldn’t get any nerdier than math camp.. I was wrong..

Without a real talent, the kids will just end up looking like fools. There’s a lot of good content on YouTube. Yet, we’re being saturated with tv, cable, internet, etc. Basically, we’re bombarded with about 1,000 channels it’s overload. Sometimes, I miss having just 3 networks.

Wouldn't want to teach your kid important life skills. Much better to foster fantasies and narcissistic tendencies. Worthless parents. Probably spend all day in FaceBook.

How many of the girls will then end up on a pornographic cam site. Think about that, parents. Teach you kids something truly useful, not how to be a cam star.

It’s called my kid is a loser camp, some fun classes are; how to get into college (proper bribery 101)

no they arent, this is a big tech funded marketing campaign to encourage parents to do this.

Please stop. While working in a middle school I heard every pipe dream from the kids: 'I don't need Math because I am going to be famous.' Whether that was modeling, rapping, sports or on the internet. Please tell your kids this is a hobby not a living for most people.

Save your money....it's easy, do 24hr challenges, stupid stunts, lifehacks or make slime..boom

With all this dumb ass kids trying to be 'insta famous' nowadays, the more traditional careers are going to make a resurgence as some of the most lucrative careers for those willing to invest some good ol' fashioned hard work and time.

미쳐따...

oh dear gawd.

What’s new about parents paying someone else to take care of their kid during the summer?

Any kid that needs a class or parent that pays for one is grade A stupid. I can predict with 100% certainty they won't be a successful youtuber at all.

This is a hilarious scam. Props to whomever is collecting money from these parents

Get your vaccine shots first.

Sitka Fine Arts Camp is evolving

Not as good as there's an app for that, but nice try lol

There’s No One To Root For In The James Charles Beauty YouTuber DramaVlogger Tati Westbrook is reaping the rewards of canceling her former friend James Charles — and cynically invoking anti-gay stereotypes to make her case. No one cares now 🙄 I won’t. Boy bye WTF Buzzfeed its not just invoking a negative stereotype if there are receipts for James' behaviour. As a Bi woman who gets plenty of hate from both the straight and gay community I am pissed at James for fulfilling this dangerous stereotype but how the hell is this Tati's fault?

There’s A Growing Rift On The Religious Right About How To Deal With LGBT PeopleThey’re planning a compromise bill in Congress that would offer some LGBT rights and religious exemptions. A good way to start would be not framing conversations around 'dealing' with your fellow human beings. Try acceptance you cave people. This is long overdue. I'm surprised the words 'deal with' would be included in the article, that's just rude. Judge people for their honesty, integrity, willingness to serve the country and help each other.
