Ja'Niah Bryant lost her best friend on April 20 when her older sister was fatally shot by a police officer outside their foster home in Columbus, Ohio.

. A little over a week after Ma'Khia's death, city leaders said they requested a Department of Justice investigation following a series of police killings of Black people in Columbus.MORE: Ma'Khia Bryant's family demands answers, investigations into teenager's death

Ja'Niah told"GMA" she called 911 the day of the shooting. In a recording of the 911 call obtained by ABC News, she can be heard urging police to"get here now," over screaming in the background, because there were"grown girls over here trying to fight us, trying to stab us." The foster home"did the best they could with what they had available," Bryant family attorney Michelle Martin told"GMA."According to Martin, things escalated on the day of the shooting when a young woman who used to live at the foster home asked the sisters to clean up after a party the night before.

The sisters"felt unsafe and began to be attacked," she said. They called their grandmother and also their foster mother, Angela Moore, who was at work at the time -- and, eventually, 911, Martin said."She was being a bigger sister," said Ja'Niah."She was trying to protect herself."

FabiolaCineas Stop putting criminals on the pedestal. People like you are the problem. Look at this photo it does not look like self defense

Her best friend tried to murder a girl.

FabiolaCineas Didn't she try to murder a girl? (Not ja'niah obviously) why are you not talking about that?

I stop caring about people at right about the point where they try to stab someone else.

Well apparently MakiahBryant turned out to be a 'great' failure like her parents. Because of BadParenting she died at hands of police after she stabbed, or attempted to stab, 2 women and resist arrest. Let's hope JaNiahBryant will disobey her parents and be better...prob not

Gee, why would the police just up and shoot her?

MainSundayService (Raise a child who is crippled by the power of Jesus' blood.)THE ONE WHO PROPHESIED CORONAVIRUS ON DECEMBER 1ST, 2015 AND RAVAGING LOCUSTS PLAGUE

Well she wouldn't be attacking people with knives I'd she had remembered this, smh

She had hopes and dreams of stabbing another girl and that cop took that from her.

'Ja'Niah hopes people don't judge her older sister for lunging at a nearby someone with a knife as shown on body camera footage. She remembers her sister as a good person.' A 'good' person doesn't attack someone with a knife. A good person will stop the attacker like the cop did.

.....while trying to stab and kill someone. Come on, man. The officer did this right

Keep tickling those racist ivories

I’m astonished. Just watched an interview of the sister and the idiot report was so sensitive and speaking as if Bryant was a victim. What a joke. Why not ask the question “does it matter that she had a deadly weapon and was in the process of killing another human being!!!!”

Man you keep leaving out the part where she tried to stab not 1 but 2 other young ladies. That police office saved their lives...you'd be singing a different tune if it was your loved one she savagely went after

Unbelievable (or actually NOT that ABC is twisting this one around).

Was that the girl with knife, who was trying to kill the girl in the pink? 🤔

She died while trying to stab people

She made a bad decision

She seemed to grow up be great at attempting to stab people.

Just let the girl stab the other girl and kill her, nobody would’ve made a peep......

“Older, knife wielding sister...”. Fixed it for you.

I feel for this girl, I really do. But, since when are full on articles done about how great a person was just before they attempted to kill 2 other people? The girls age makes this even harder to stomach. This was a justified shooting and NO indication that race was a factor.

Sister had a knife!!! Just remember that.

Why doesn’t ABC cover anything at home? Like the wilding going on downtown Stop being a police hating station and report everything!!

Because she was about to FATALLY STAB another girl!!!! She got what she deserved!

Why did her family put her in a foster home?

“Ja’Niah Bryant lost her best friend on April 20 when her older sister attempted to brutally murder someone. She was shot by a police officer who was doing his job and defending an unarmed black woman”. Fixed it for you!

Self-defense member that..... Nicholas Reardon, who has been on the force for approximately 18 months. Interim Chief Michael Woods👁👁

....while trying to stab another person

As this the girl who got shot by the police as she was about to stab another girl?

ABC news are you a joke?

I really appreciate Rolandwolf123 for all you've done for me, you're the best and I promise to spread your good work

He best friend was a knife murderer...that relationship won’t last

Younger sister remembers Ma'Khia Bryant: 'She wanted to grow up and be great'Ja'Niah Bryant lost her best friend on April 20 when her older sister was fatally shot by a police officer outside their foster home in Columbus, Ohio. In an exclusive TV interview with ABC News' Eva Pilgrim for 'Good Morning America,' Ja'Niah described 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant as her 'other half.' 'We did everything together,' Ja'Niah, 15, said. Yahoo, now let's see some stories on the girl who was moments away from getting stabbed by Ma'Khia Bryant. What kind of civilized person would name their kids Ma'Khia and Ja'Niah. Reminds me of a Negro woman who craved Jello while in labor and named her twins Lemonjello and Oranjello. True story. So charge the other girls. I'm fine with that. However, this girl still screwed up by attempting to murder someone directly in front of a police officer. Clearly not a good idea.
