AMC Theatres joins a handful of cinemas letting customers rent out auditoriums for private screenings -- a growing trend due to the Covid-19 pandemic. AMC allows rentals of up to 20 people. According to its website, rates start at $99, excluding tax, and increase to $349 depending on the movie, the theater's location and any other add-ons like food and drink.
"In compliance with these restrictions, all of our theatres worldwide have temporarily suspended operations through June," the company said in the filing."During this period, we are generating effectively no revenue." The biggest movies that have been delayed, and when you can expect to see them Hollywood studios are also delaying the release of films, like Wonder Woman 1984, a Warner Bros. film.

Cinemark has been doing this since they started reopening theaters in August. You can rent out an entire auditorium for up to twenty people to watch a movie. AMC’s just copying them because Cinemark’s managed to stay afloat despite only being the 3rd biggest chain.

williamlegate In normal times that would be awesome, but how thorough is their cleaning crew? Can't trust that.
I mentioned this to my wife as a joke, she is seriously considering it. We haven’t been to a movie since February. 🤔
$99 minimum to see old movies? Are they aware that a huge percentage of the population own 60+' televisions and surround sound that make paying a pile at a theatre obsolete? Time to innovate, guys.
Tried to do this in Canada with CineplexMovies for a kids party. It’s garbage. Virtually every movie reassured is owned by Disney and they don’t allow private screenings. Don’t wanna show a bunch of 7 yr olds “GoodFellas”, sorry.
Is the popcorn included or sold separately 😒
LeosAMovieGuy our birthdays are coming up...
Or you can pass on the visual wallpaper and actually read a book or investigate the bullshit you’re fed by this station. The World is not Netflix...
Or you could just go to the movies regularly- no one is in the theaters anyway so you’ll basically have it to yourself. Theater hack
