Yara Shahidi will be 1st Black woman to play Tinkerbell in new 'Peter Pan' movie

Shahidi is best known for her starring role on "Black-ish," as well as being a star and producer of "Grown-ish."

Yara Shahidi at the 51st NAACP Image Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Feb. 22 in Pasadena, California.The actor is set toin Disney's"Peter Pan and Wendy," the studio's latest live-action adaptation. Shahidi joins a cast that features Jude Law as Captain Hook, with Alexander Molony as Peter Pan and newcomer Ever Anderson as Wendy.

"Pete's Dragon" director David Lowery is on board to direct and co-wrote the script with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker is producing.
