Xi and Macron affirm support for climate pact despite Trump withdrawal

Speaking at a joint signing ceremony in the Chinese capital Beijing Wednesday, Xi reiterated both sides shared determination to"push forth the Paris Climate Accords in response to climate change."Though neither leader mentioned the US by name, Macron called out what he described as the"isolated choices" made by some nations.

China signed on and stated they would reach maximum emissions by 2030. That’s all their commitment was.

If they have never reduced their emissions- and they haven’t-then they’re not REcommitting to it. They’re either actually committing to it, or they’re lying. Considering that the Agreement is a sham. We’ve lowered ours without pretending they’re all serious. Actions over words.
