Morris Miller, CEO of Xenex Disinfection Services Inc., wants to invade U.S. hospitals with the company’s germ-killing robots.

Imagine a robot that looks something like R2D2 from Star Wars or Rosie from the Jetsons , but with a sole purpose — to zap germs to death. San Antonio -based Xenex Disinfection Services Inc. is making that robot in San Antonio . Though it doesn’t have R2D2 ’s navigation ability or Rosie ’s sarcastic wit, it does have the power to obliterate pathogens by bathing them in ultraviolet light.

Xenex’s pathogen-zapping LightStrike robot gets FDA authorization for use in health care facilities Along with Xenex, Miller has put venture capital money into companies such as Golfballs.com and the online ad company Adometry, which Google acquired in 2014. He was also a significant early investor and leader of Rackspace Technology Inc., the locally based cloud computing services company.

Germ-zapping robot maker gets new digs as business grows Q: What is it that makes it a good place to grow a business? A: First and foremost is always the people. I find that the people in San Antonio, they want to contribute. There’s a community feeling here. It’s not a selfish city. I was in Florida over the weekend, and the drivers were so aggressive. Secondly, the city has done an amazing job with infrastructure.
