The regulator said the trust's mistakes meant Wynter and her mother did not receive safe careAn NHS trust has been fined £800,000 after admitting failings in the care of a baby who died after 23 minutes.
Nottingham University Hospitals pleaded guilty over the care of Wynter Andrews, who died after being born in 2019 at the Queen's Medical Centre.Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard the trust's failures were "more than sufficient" to cause harm to Wynter and her mother Sarah. However, District Judge Leong said she was "acutely aware" the fine would be paid for by funding that would usually be used for patient care.- a loss of oxygen flow to the brain - which could have been prevented had staff delivered her earlier.
The Care Quality Commission brought the charges after the trust's mistakes meant Wynter and Sarah Andrews did not receive safe care and treatment in its maternity services.
The Tories should pay this as THEY are responsible for how understaffed & broke the NHS is, because they FORCE the NHS to waste all its money on PRIVATE services, tunnelling insane amounts of public money into the pockets of the private shareholders pockets, including Tory MPs
Negligence in the NHS on the rise . The organisation no longer fit for purpose and it’s employees want a rise ? Striking causing endless problems and people suffering because of these stupid decisions . Reform now !!
Feel desperately sorry for parents but what’s the logic in paying 800k fine from a health district short of money
This ain’t going to help NHSuk NHSCrisis NHS NHSinCrisis coffers 1 bit.. lack of funding hole just got £800k worse.. as sad case is NHSEngland needs money more than andrews..
Imagine thinking the way to prevent this happening again is taking money away. They clearly can't even manage with the record levels of funding the health service is getting!! How about getting someone in there to find out WHY it is failing and who is responsible. Bloody joke.
So £800k paid to scroungers but not given to staff . £800k is not justified. Keep clapping
Pointless. It's those responsible who should be prosecuted, not the fabric.
Wynter died from hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy - a loss of oxygen flow to the brain - which could have been prevented had staff delivered her earlier.....how could this happen in such standard establishment, they should even pay more that.
Tip of the iceberg.
Money should not be taken away from patient care to pay fines for inadequate patient care.
what happens to the fine money ?
