A federal vaccine advisory committee will put off a vote on recommending who should get initial limited doses of any Covid-19 vaccine in the U.S., until committee members learn more, according to people familiar with the matter

A federal vaccine advisory committee will put off a vote on recommending who should get initial limited doses of anyin the U.S., until committee members learn more about the vaccines that could become available first, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, a group of external medical experts that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was initially expected to vote at a meeting Tuesday on a plan to give priority to initial doses of any Covid-19 vaccine that passes muster in clinical trials.

The ACIP may wait until government officials authorize a specific vaccine or vaccines for use before voting on how to give priority to initial doses, one of the people familiar with the matter said. Some information, like how effective a vaccine is, may not become available for several weeks. Typically, the committee votes only on recommendations for the use of vaccines after they have been cleared by regulators. The next scheduled committee meeting is in late October.

Prioritization for early Covid-19 vaccine doses is listed as a presentation topic on the agenda posted on the CDC website for a committee meeting Tuesday, but no vote is scheduled, a CDC spokeswoman said.is likely to reserve initial doses for front-line health-care workers, according to discussions at prior ACIP meetings. It may also place high priority on vaccinating workers in essential industries like food and agriculture, and people at greatest risk of severe disease and death.

CDCgov has lost all credibility. How can we believe any guidance they give now?

Every person who has posted we have to wear masks until there is a vaccine should be the first ones lined up... the rest of us have been ready to go back to the old normal

Someone can have mine.

Since nobody is lining up for the COVID vaccine, they might have to decide mandatory initial vaccines.
