Women Are Nearly Half of New Gun Buyers, Study Finds

SAN DIEGO—Close to half of all new U.S. gun buyers since the beginning of 2019 have been women, a shift for a market long dominated by men, according to a new study.

The National Firearms Survey polled more than 19,000 adults. It is one of the largest nationally representative, population-based surveys about gun purchasing ever conducted, Dr. Azrael said. Kanisha Johnson, 39 years old, joined NotMeSD and bought a 9mm Glock earlier this year. The father of her children nearly killed her by shooting her in the head in 2017, according to court records.

Judi Wells, left, San Diego chapter founder of A Girl & A Gun, says she recorded a radio show on how to survive getting caught in a riot. At a recent chapter meeting at a local range, Ms. Wells, 64, led five women in target-shooting drills. “Two to the body, one to the head,” she instructed.

While I'm all for gun control regulations, teaching women (or anyone else, for that matter) how to safely handle guns and how to properly use them is never wrong.

And this is a surprise? I’m not even American and it makes sense to me that if they could, they would, and should, own a firearm for personal protection. Personal choice tho. I’m also surprised more women’s groups don’t advocate for firearm ownership, but I’m not a woman 🤷‍♂️

Only in the US, women would feel the need if the lived in other western countries, only in the US where there are guns everywhere so no one feels safe.

Unsurprisingly so, you have more chances of being shot than die of covid. Will Bulletproof Vests ever become Mandatory?

Well, at least the advice is to hit center mass. Anyone who suggests shooting at an arm or leg first should learn to shoot.
