A woman was killed and two other people were hospitalized in serious condition after a violent two-car crash in the Winchester area of Riverside County on Sunday afternoon. The crash was reported at around 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of Simpson Road and California Avenue, according to Riverside County Fire Department crews. Paramedics arrived at the scene where they found three people suffering from serious injuries and another suffering from minor injuries sustained in the crash.
California Highway Patrol investigators say that Higgins was a front-seat passenger in a Chevrolet Cruze that was going westbound on Simpson Road through the intersection when they were broadsided by a 17-year-old behind the wheel of a Jeep. Investigators believe that the teenager 'failed to stop or yield' before entering the intersection. The other two occupants of Higgins' vehicle, a 53-year-old Hemet man and a 13-year-old girl, suffered major injuries in the crash.
