The detective, Joshua Hearn, was hospitalized with injuries after the stolen car reversed into his legs.

SAN PABLO — A 24-year-old Rodeo woman has been charged with reversing a stolen vehicle into a San Pablo police detective who fired his pistol into the car’s windshield but didn’t hit anyone, court records show.

Turner was held to answer at a May 20 preliminary hearing, and is next due in court on May 28. She is being held at the West Contra Costa Detention Facility in lieu of $173,000 bail, records show. It all started around 1 p.m. on Feb. 23, when Hearn attempted to pull over a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu that had been reported stolen out of Oakland on Valentine’s Day. The car sped away and Hearn gave chase but lost sight of it shortly thereafter. Another patrol officer located the Chevrolet near 20th Street and Stanford Avenue and resumed the pursuit, police said.
