Boucher was arrested and booked into the Volusia County Jail for 20 counts of aggravated animal cruelty and eight counts of confinement of animals without sufficient food, water, or exercise. Her bond was set at $54,000. A Central Florida woman was arrested after multiple animals were found dead or malnourished in a DeLand home, according to the sheriff's office.
With the assistance of Volusia County Fire Rescue, deputies entered the home based on the urgent situation. Inside, there was no one — except malnourished animals living in deplorable conditions.The surviving animals — three hungry and dehydrated dogs, a tortoise, multiple snakes and lizards, and a tarantula — were removed from the home. Volusia County Animal Services officers responded to assist in providing evaluation, treatment, and shelter for all of the animals, VCSO said.
Additionally, deputies said there were unopened dog food cans found on a coffee table. Boucher said she received auto-shipments for the food.
