Tacoma Fire successfully rescued a resident trapped by a fallen tree early Wednesday.Saturated soil from recent heavy rainfall worsened the impact from the winds.More than a half-million homes and businesses lost power in the Pacific Northwest overnight from a windstorm that was worsened by a stormy weather pattern that also brought heavy rainfall and triggered landslides.

A tree falling on a home in Tacoma prompted a rescue after the occupant became trapped, according to Tacoma Fire. The occupant was successfully rescued. The most recent soaking, which was fed by an atmospheric river late Monday into early Wednesday, also contributed to landslides and localized flooding in the Northwest.
