Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross played down prospects of a major trade deal if President Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping meet at the Group of 20 summit in Japan later this month, but he said he believes the two sides will ultimately get back to negotiations.
“I think the most that will come out of the G-20 might be an agreement to actively resume talks,” Mr. Ross said in a phone interview Sunday. “At the presidential level they’re not going to talk about the details of how do you enforce a trade agreement.”

Just a wild guess but I never expected anything of substance from trump at the G20 anyway. Trade agreements are not arrived at on a cocktail napkin. Unless you’re dealing with trump , the unprepared.
Xi won’t be humiliated by the likes of Trump. China is being being driven into Russia’s arms. Trump is the worst negotiator on the planet. Russia is growing tired of him.
If they meet, Trump will say something utterly wrong or offensive and undo the progress the actual negotiators have made.
