For 30 years Phil Mickelson was a staple of the WM Phoenix Open. In fact, heLefty made his debut at the PGA Tour’s annual Arizona desert stop in 1989 as an 18-year-old freshman at Arizona State. As Mickelson evolved from a three-time NCAA champion to a six-time major champion and 45-time winner on Tour, the event at TPC Scottsdale grew with him and took a bit of his personality along for the ride.
“It was always special, but it became something bigger and larger than I think I ever thought possible.” Mickelson is as optimistic as anyone, if not more, but Woods and the fans in Phoenix better not hold their breath for his return.
He’s done amazing things for AZ (starting with 3 ASU nat’l titles) His foundation raised millions & he donated $ millions to make Papago a fantastic venue, ASU home course Fun to watch losers on here bag on him. PGA tour players thanking him, biggest purse increases in history
Sheesh; Phil really has evolved into a jerk. What a smarmy snotty narrative he's adopted regarding LIV.
Hey Phil. Stay away. We don't want you here!
I’ll save everyone the click: Because “Phil is chill” with those who unalive dissidents. Real standup dude.
Because he wants more money and play golf less?
Just my guess… he’s busy doing a pony show for gambling 💰 from Prince Bonesaw
To go from this headline to this kicker: 'the future of the tournament in the desert is as bright as ever' is impressively acrobatic nonsense. Phil's an amoral prostitute. The PHX Open is fun. These facts can coexist.
