“He’ll still text his friends and go hang out on the weekend when there’s not soccer, and just hang out and be a kid. Because he’s still just a young kid,” said Jermaine Spivey, who works in tech while his wife has a job with the YMCA.Spivey plays nothing like a young kid on the pitch, effortlessly stringing together one-twos and finding space like a seasoned pro. Earthquakes coach Erin Ridley said his understanding of “how to dictate the tempo of the game” is uncommon in kids his age.
“Me knowing that they’re going to be there for me every step of the way, good or bad, that encourages me to keep striving to be better,” Kaedren said.
